Pioneer Oil Company was founded in 1905 and was purchased by Tom Reid Sr. in 1940, and since then been family owned and operated. As a new owner, Tom Sr. not only delivered oil, but also repaired furnaces and retained a loyal customer base because of his willingness to be helpful. With one flatbed truck carrying 50 gallon drums of motor oil, solvents, kerosene and grease, Tom Sr. began to build his company. Drafted into the army, he put the business on hold while he served in World War II. Returning from the war, Tom Sr. worked from his home in the Hollywood district of Portland with his wife Kathryn answering phones as business grew steadily.

In 1979 Steve Reid and Tom Reid Jr. purchased Pioneer Oil from their father along with a second company, Paramount Oil. The company was then moved to Paramount's location at 810 N. Fremont in Portland. The Company stayed at this location until moving the office to 58th and NE Sandy Boulevard and purchasing a loading facility at 9270 NE Glisan. In 1988, the present office and warehouse were built at the Glisan location.

In September, 1987, Pioneer Oil acquired Alpine Burner Service and this repair business grew into a complete furnace repair and installation operation. In May of 1995, Morris Oil Company was purchased and merged with Pioneer. Then in 2003, Pioneer acquired the On-Site fueling part of First Call’s business and in return the heating oil and HVAC part of Pioneer’s business was sold.

Today, Pioneer Oil specializes in On-Site Computerized Fleet Fueling of commercial fleets of vehicles and bulk deliveries of diesel, biodiesel and unleaded motor fuel. We also have Off-Road Diesel for bulk deliveries in your tank or on-site fueling of your construction equipment and are able to offer Common Carrier services 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. With a 17 truck fleet operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year Pioneer is able to offer on-site delivery at your location with the time schedule of your choice.
